A Very Georgian Ball - Valentines at The British Library
February 15, 2014
From Polonaise and Cotillion to Les Gras, Ballet Russe and Spanish Waltz, only the most elegant dancing was on show at The British Library's Georgian Ball for Valentine's Night.
Throughout the evening each guest's dance card began to fill as, following a candle lit banquet (during which Lady Hamilton caused quite a stir performing semi clad ballet tableaux betwixt the guests) our dance master took control of the ballroom and drew together romance seeking partners.
Georgian speed dating occupied the guests who lacked a dance partner to stand up with and several echoing dance cards were filled through the stolen moments of unchaperoned conversation.
All return exhausted and happy to their chambers as the night drew to a close.
Our dance master's dance practices are found here.
